During the evening when the sun is down, the DC to AC power inverter switches back to the local power utility for the power your home needs. You will have to purchase back some of the extra electricity you produced while the sun was shining.
The grid ties can be added, together with additional solar panels to boost the power. If no power is being used in the house, if all are away at work, the meter will run backwards, effectively making the power company pay you.
If you are using a battery bank, the inverter will switch over to that as a source in the evening or during a power outage before connecting to the local power utility. This will allow you to use the energy that was stored while the sun was shining to power your home and save you even more money.
These machines are not costly and the manner they are joined to the home is not dear, making the whole scheme economical. The older system is batteries and an inverter however this costs extra and space needs to be found for the batteries.
The inverter is also highly recommended in giving power to electronics. It works by producing 3-phase AC energy at elevated frequency. Afterward, it is transformed into straight current, then toward the alternating flow of electric charge that can be utilized by electric appliances and equipment.
Just like the conventional power grids supplying power to consumers, a PV (Photovoltaic) Grid's main purpose is to offer power as per the demand. Square wave inverters - are generators that are not seen as frequent as they could be. They are superior in giving power to universal motors, like those that can be seen in some power tools. These generators are hard to find but the cheapest among portable models.
Modified square wave generators - these inverter generators produce current with waveform more likely the square wave inverters rather than sine wave inverters. Pump motors, fans and refrigerators operate less effectively by means of these inverters than sine wave inverters.
Appliances having timers or digital watch will maintain accurate time, but generally will run more rapidly. Domestic devices with heat control can not function accurately and tools like multi-speed energy drills may work only in one rate with these generators. Other kinds of equipment may function normally through customized or modified square wave inverter generators.
A backup battery inverter is a type of grid-tied inverter. It can perform the usual feat of taking the energy from batteries and converting it to useable AC power, but it can also send the excess energy stored by the batteries back into the utility grid. If your home's renewable energy power system is using a backup battery inverter you can actually sell your excess power back to the local power utility.
Without solar inverters, all the Photovoltaic cells in all the solar panels in all the world wouldn't do us any good.
