DIY Vertical Wind Turbine - DIY Green Energy
Aside from the sun, another renewable energy source that we can get from our planet is wind energy. Building a DIY vertical wind turbine will enable you to harness this free and ecologically friendly energy source. Paying the electricity bill should be a breeze if you have one mounted onto your rooftop.

Making a DIY vertical wind turbine is practically an easy project. A basic wind turbine, provided with a steady wind current can produce about fifty kilowatt hours of electricity per month. Built mostly of plywood, magnets and aluminum this turbine works well for wind speeds of six to twenty miles per hour.
Begin constructing your wind turbine by cutting carefully teardrop shapes from plywood. Next you connect them by using four foot steel rods. Then you cover them with aluminum and your wings are done. Now you begin building the alternator. The alternator converts wind energy into electricity. You can build one by gluing multiple magnets on two steel discs. Make a disc out of plywood and tape copper wire coils on it, and then slide all three discs into the shaft. Now you attach the other parts of the wind turbine. On a rectangular frame, clamp both ends of the shaft. Next is to weld the wing's arms under the alternator. Also weld the wings to the steel disc at the turbines top. Then attach cables to the frame arms and use sandbags to stabilize them.
The last step is to wire a rectifier to the alternator. Connect the batteries to convert the power to DC voltage. It takes about four to six hours to charge eight batteries fully, and then it is ready to power the house.
Using clean and renewable energy will not just save you money; you will also help save the environment. You should start building a DIY vertical wind turbine and start enjoying its benefits. Begin living green today.
